About Me

Motown native Dayna Davis was born into a musically inclined family in the 80s. This triple threat performer is classically trained in piano and alto sax and also received training to hone her natural vocal talent. She has been part of numerous professional workshops, camps and organizations over the years, including Interlochen, Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, Berklee College of Music – Boston, ASCAP, Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI). Dayna sang “At Last” as part of a scholarship pageant put on by one of the fraternities at her college – an experience which later inspired her to continue with her musical aspirations.

It’s always exciting when a mega-talented artist like Dayna Davis has that big epiphany where singing is suddenly not just a lifelong hobby, but also a destiny she wants to share with the world. For the Detroit native, that moment happened in 2008 when she was sparked and encouraged to create her own musical journey.

Equally gifted as a jazz, pop and R&B singer, Dayna cites her chief influences as Whitney Houston, Natalie Cole and Jill Scott. You may also notice some gospel influence in her vocals, as she grew up in church, sung in her college’s gospel chorale, and was a part of a gospel recording group. While she doesn’t have a degree in music, she did receive years of training in classical piano, alto saxophone, trumpet, voice and music theory.

The emerging and evolving vocalist officially launched her solo career in the fall of 2011, with the release of her first single, a powerhouse rendition of the Etta James classic “At Last”, and launching her own label, DRD International Records, and publishing company, DRD International Publishing. In 2015, Dayna released her first original composition, “I’m Gonna Get It”. This fun, funky pop tune is meant to inspire and motivate people to go after their dreams and goals. This sophomore single was followed by another cover, which is her neo-soul version of the Christmas classic “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”.

Beyond establishing herself as an artist, Dayna also aspires to write and produce original music for herself and celebrities. Dayna’s classic sound, timeless personality and diverse influences makes it hard to put her in a box. Her versatility allows her to successfully reach a wide range of demographics. Additionally, Dayna’s professional background and experiences also allows her to freelance as a business consultant to those in creative industries. This well-rounded musician has the makings to be a music mogul.
