Detroit based artist Dayna Davis just released her new single!
ABOUT ME
It’s always exciting when a mega-talented artist like Dayna Davis has that big epiphany where singing is suddenly not just a lifelong hobby, but also a destiny she wants to share with the world. For the Detroit native, that moment happened in 2008 when she was sparked and encouraged to create her own musical journey.
Equally gifted as a jazz, pop and R&B singer, Dayna cites her chief influences as Whitney Houston, Natalie Cole and Jill Scott. You may also notice some gospel influence in her vocals, as she grew up in church, sung in her college’s gospel chorale, and was a part of a gospel recording group. While she doesn’t have a degree in music, she did receive years of training in classical piano, alto saxophone, trumpet, voice and music theory.
The emerging and evolving vocalist officially launched her solo career in the fall of 2011, with the release of her first single, a powerhouse rendition of the Etta James classic “At Last”, and launching her own label, DRD International Records, and publishing company, DRD International Publishing. In 2015, Dayna released her first original composition, “I’m Gonna Get It”. This fun, funky pop tune is meant to inspire and motivate people to go after their dreams and goals. This sophomore single was followed by another cover, which is her neo-soul version of the Christmas classic “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”.
